The Professional Football season has finally begun!
Although the two teams that played last night are not my favorite, the Steelers at least, are among the top 5. :) I didn't watch the entire game, but it was just enjoyable to watch a football game. Any football game.
I've tried to get into college football and I just can't. It is not fun for me to watch a game that is fairly predictable from the onset. Now I know, and have seen, a game that just defies those odds (probably why sports betting is so popular) but it is rare. And you really cannot discount the fact that a professional game is doing really well when there are 80,000 fans in the stands - but college games can have up to 120,000! Just mind numbing.
Several of my drill weekends when I was an MP where basically helping out the state police by being a road cone. It is an amazingly difficult task to get 100,000+ fans all moving, especially when you have to tell a driver (sometimes drunk) that they are not allowed to turn left and me being dressed in a cammoflauged uniform with a dull road vest - in a poorly lit intersection.
Another thing that probably does not help me affinity for collegiate football is my NCAA team is Army. Basicaly my education beyond H.S. has been mostly military, Army in particular thus my connection. I believe they as an organization are really moving in a good direction with Bobby Ross as their Head Coach. They even have an open invitation to a bowl game (Pointsetta I believe) IF they can find a way to win six of their twelve games this year. (They are a little behind on their goal having lost the first game of the season versus Arkansas State.)
One really nice thing that did occur through a college football game though. I met my beloved at one. That will have to be a story for another day (making a note in my notebook right now :) ).

Verse for today:
1 Corinthians 2:1-5, esv
And I, when I came to you, brothers, [1] did not come proclaiming to you the testimony [2] of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
