The 30 Day Water Challange!

Not sure what you all thought about when you read the title for this blog, but i know what i thought.  "Sounds like a good idea.  A challenge to get people to drink water for 30 days.  I know i need to cut back on the Dr Pepper."  But then i read 'Big Mamma Alise's' Blog more closely.  On 1-September 30 bloggers started a campaign to raise $30,000 in 30 days for a charity that digs wells for people that do not have clean drinking water at hand - like you and i (if you are able to read this, you most likely have clean tap water readily available).

I had heard about this charity earlier this summer, but went on my merry little way.  I think this is an awesome goal to put out there for others to help them reach.  Please click on this link:
And prayerful consider what you can contribute.  No contribution is too small.

Some super amazing things about this:

  • $1 gives someone clean water for 1 year. One. Stinking. Dollar. Seriously, this past Saturday I spent four times that on a nasty cup of coffee that I threw away. The uncool of that makes me want to bury my head in shame. Four years of water wasted on something that I poured down the sink because it was too sweet.
  • 100% of what you donate goes toward water projects. Yes, you read that right. 100% of your donation goes to get people water. The overhead has been taken care of by private donors so ALL of your money goes to help. That is redonkulous. (i love that word)
  • All the cool kids are doing it. Seriously, this is a ploy to goad you into contributing... but it is a really cool thing to do!
  • When you give, charity: water will update you on how that money is being spent, by giving you pics, vids and GPS coordinates of where the well is being built.
You do not have to leave your name if you don't want to, but leave a blurb about how you heard about it, maybe a brief prayer or word of encouragement.

Thank you for your time and attention.  I have heard it said:
"For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me." (Mark 14:7, ESV)
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, [6] you did it to me." (Matthew 25:36-27, 40, ESV)
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust [5] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  (Matthew 6:19-21, ESV)

Please help these bloggers reach this really good goal!
